Morrow Chess Set

This folding chess board and its pieces were made with storage in mind. The board frame is maple, with a hand-veneered chess surface of maple, cherry, and dyed grey maple. The pieces were custom designed, and turned and carved from maple to fit within regulation sizes. Felt lines the interior of the box and cushions the base of each piece. Hinges and clasp were cold-blued to suit the overall design. A water-based polyurethane finish was meticulously applied and hand-buffed to a soft matte sheen.
